I bought this toy for my 3 year old autistic child. These blocks are a lot bigger than the sets I've bought in the past, making them a lot safer as he still likes to put things in his mouth. Although he doesn't fully understand the concept of lacing, this set seems to be of very high quality and he likes to stack the blocks in a fairly flat shape. The multicolored threads resemble shoelaces, with aguillettes at both ends to make threading the thread easier. They are strong enough to tie and untie with a bow to make a temporary necklace while you play. If your child has very small hands and understands well enough not to choke, smaller beads may be easier to work with. But these beads are the perfect size to avoid the choking hazard if that bothers you.
