A direct exchange is NOT IMPLEMENTED!
The description said it was a direct replacement for my Dell Inspiron 1525 BUT it is a thinner drive. Original 9mm, new 7mm. Make sure you know how thick your original disc is, then check the specs. Thinner drives will not fit in the slots and will not function. I keep this with an external case as an external backup drive.
