Review on πŸ“Ά Enhanced Outdoor Directional Yagi Antenna with N Female Connector - Ideal for 700/800/900 MHz Band - by weBoost by Mark Williams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well made, high directivity and 770-860MHz coverage

Wilson Electronics model Y8009EL 8 cell Yagi is advertised here. I received an 8 cell Yagi from Wilson Electronics #301111. The following are the manufacturer's published specifications in the package: Number of elements 8 Impedance 50 ohms Frequency response and gain 700-800MHz, 10.0dBi (isotropic dBi) Frequency response and gain 824-894MHz, 10.8dBi (not 13 dBi) Bandwidth & Gain 880-960MHz, 8.8dBi (announced) Max Power 50W Polarization Vertical N-Female Length (with bracket) 82.6cm/32.5in Weight (with bracket) 0.597kg/1 .31 lbs (corrected 597 kg?) Material Aluminum Wind Area < 100 sq. cm Included but not shown, 2 U-shaped mast clamps, lock washers and nuts for mounting on 1/2" to 2" diameter mast. In fact, the U-mast clamp's threads are insufficient to mount it to a mast less than 1-1/2" in diameter. Using a solid aluminum (3/8" diameter) curved dipole follower to accommodate a 50 ohm feed line (N jack) is achieved using a half wave loop balun on a RG-58 coaxial cable.I opened up the balun's airtight black cylindrical plastic case with a Dremel tool and found that the assembly inside the Interior is well made, all connecting eye bolts are threaded. The reflector and 6 guides are constructed of 1/2" aluminum hollow tubing and are securely mounted to a 32" long 1" square hollow rod. . Antenna #301111 compares well to the best whip antenna in the world - Radio Shack #20-283 800MHz 6dB Scanner Antenna (BNC connector). If strong side rejection, high directivity, 50 ohm delivery combined with reasonable frequency coverage are your goals, I recommend this antenna.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Something different
