Review on Sony ICD PX333 Digital Voice Recorder: High-Quality Recording for Crisp Sound by Jeff Hall

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It works, but it won't last forever.

I've had three of these orders, the sound quality is second to none! The built-in speaker isn't bad at all, and the presence of a microphone jack and headphone jack is very nice. It works great with rechargeable Duracell AAA batteries. Batteries don't last forever and I have several sets and at least one of them always gets hot without a charger. I don't leave the battery charging all the time, I use an automatic charger. The mini SD card slot is very handy, but I don't really need the extra storage space for what I use it for. The power button is the main problem, it's very small and the last power button I had fell off the circuit board inside and couldn't be reinstalled. The switch is very small and fragile. This is the only real weak point in this design. The only other complaint is that the screen doesn't light up. A button should light up on the screen, two triple-A batteries have enough power for something like that. In addition, the price of this device keeps increasing and reaches a point where it is not worth its price. But it's a good machine with excellent sound quality, can be left in a shirt or pants pocket, and picks up people speaking from 20 or 30 feet away as long as there's not too much background noise. I use it as a security guard in an office building and it picks up all sorts of things and has been good insurance against people complaining about my specialists. I was once accused of racism, but the audio recording proved that the complainant was lying.
