Simple product: works well.
A simple product: use a USB socket (> 1A) to charge your Wii U controller. I use an Anker power bank to turn it off when the kids forget to charge it. It works and offers operational flexibility, which is great. Note. My version came with a Wii U end built into the cable, not an adapter.
