I've been knitting with metal needles but a friend suggested I try bamboo so I bought this pair but I won't be buying Clover Bamboo again. I got the felt smooth except for the roughness at the tip of one of the needles. I had to hand sand it down a bit and still got a small splinter while knitting - not that much fun. Also, I've found that the 100% acrylic yarn I use sticks to the softwood and makes it stiffer. to push the yarn through and I have to press harder than usual on the tip of the needle - painful for my fingertips. The tube of this needle is tightly twisted and needs to be straightened with hot water or steam before knitting. However, once smoothed I find it quite comfortable and easy to use. I've dropped a tube of round metal needles in the past, but this tube seems pretty durable.
