Review on Autel MaxiCOM MK808: 2021 Newest OBD2 Car Diagnostic Scanner with 25+ Maintenance Functions and All System Diagnosis by Jason Holt

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Expensive for a better code reader with limited special features. DS808 and MK808

I have 3 Autel products: MaxiDAS DS808 (2018 version), AP200 and this MK808. Of all, the MK808 is the most expensive in terms of features. Compared to DS808, the differences are painfully obvious, MK808 can only read codes but cannot do bi-directional control, activation or variant coding like DS808. I paid $649 for a DS808 and was able to calibrate my Mercedes' air suspension ($350 at the dealership), code the A/C control module to "Texas" mode (150% more cooling sensitivity - $175 at the dealership) and a few other functions. . . The extra $200 for a better tool is well spent in my opinion. These additional features apply not only to Mercedes vehicles, but also to most other major brands. Decent code reading tools cost around $100, add some extra so-called special features, and you can get a Foxwell with similar capabilities for around $160. I wasn't impressed at all, out of all that was stated in the description only the oil reset worked (on my Mercedes). On a Ford I could use about 2 (cylinder balance which is basically useless for diagnosing and accessing IMMO - PATS). 2 out of 25. I have about 15 on the DS808 and that's probably not all. In summary, I wouldn't buy the MK808, it's overpriced for a glamorized code reader with limited functionality.
