good for novice and hobby applications.
im giving this an overall 5 star rating because im not doing precise machine measuring. im a guitar hobbiest and the micrometer is only for checking string gauges. it works fine for that. the caliper on the other hand will be great for checking nut widths and thickness'. this pretty good quality for garage woodworking i only wish the measurment indications were in inches, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 etc. i end up placing the caliper on a standard ruler lol. good enough, it didnt break the bank.
