Review on Enhancing Visual Perception: School Zone Pictures Workbook by Marc Zitnik

This was a purchase for my four year old son who loves hidden picture educational books. This book is advertised as being for ages 6-8, which is older than my child, but based on his previous experience with hidden image issues, I wanted to give it a try. The book is 320 pages long (including the final answer part) and resembles a telephone book. I can say that 80% of the pages are dedicated to exercises like hidden pictures. It's basically a 7 x 7 inch square image (a nice colorful image of an interesting subject like space, animals, etc.). The boxes below show 8 objects and the challenge is to find them in the big picture. . There are some that even my 2 year old daughter can find, but not many. My 4 year old son finds about 6 out of 8 and enjoys doing the exercises. The rest of the exercises (which are not hidden images) are very difficult and hard to understand and perform even for me as an adult at first glance. But I think a 7 or 8 year old could do most of it with adult supervision. These additional tasks include connecting dots (but not the usual series completion, when you connect numbers in ascending order to open a picture you have to do a calculation to find the next goal for each step), complex mazes, coloring tiny areas with coded numbers. with different colors to show the image and multiple multiplayer word games. These extra activities are well distributed on the rather simple Hidden Object pages. I really enjoyed the book and the price of $11.50 is reasonable for its sheer size (as of March 2015). You can buy it for a child of any age (3 years old). to 10) and everyone will find it amusing.
