Before purchasing these straws, I read several reviews mentioning the unpleasant taste. Honestly? I turned them down because there were so many positive reviews and because I have a poor sense of taste due to sinus issues. Honestly? These few reviews were very accurate. Even with my poor sense of taste, these straws are useless. It's not the silicone tips - my husband and I tried both ways to be sure. Those are straws. They have a very unpleasant metallic but plastic aftertaste that lingers for some time after use. In other words, everything you drink tastes like you've licked a plastic-coated metal stick, and the bad taste lingers for 5 minutes or more after you "sip" your drink. Unfortunately they cannot be returned as they have been used and the original packaging has been lost. So we just throw them away and never buy Revain metal straws (made in China) again.
