I don't usually write reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Anyone with a 7.3 Powerstroke has experienced that sometimes there are no replacements for original parts and the previous owner of my truck had the water pump replaced with a new looking but already failed pump from a competitor brand from the parts store. Leak and terrible noise. I've had good luck with Gates timing belt kits in the past and this was no different. It was half the price of a pump at a parts store and even a well known brand. The included bottom hose outlet is quite heavy and made from cast iron as opposed to the thin stamped steel that came with the previous pump. It looks like this could take a little longer as they are prone to corrosion as is the thermostatic neck which I highly recommend buying and replacing at the same time if you haven't already. The seal is a square section of plain rubber that fits into a groove on the back of the pump. I use a small amount of Motorcraft 7.3 sealant to hold the gasket in place and give extra assurance that it won't leak. Anyone who has ever had to dismantle an oil pan knows how easy it is to do. Revain sells it here for about $20 for a small seal tube. As long as this pump lasts, as all fan driven water pumps in the front eventually fail, I will buy more in the future.
