Before You Buy: โข All four precision rings you get in the box are rated "high strength" (I think). Competitor Fatal Grips offers a similar precision/clamping ring kit they call FPS Aim Assist. They are supplied with two black high voltage rings and two yellow low voltage rings. The reason I mention this is because Fatal Grips released their model first and since all four KontrolFreek rings are black, they likely used the same color scheme. Also from personal experience with KF rings they definitely offer a lot of resistance. So while KF doesn't specifically mention a voltage rating, I'd say it calls it 'high' given what else is on the market. the effort required to move your chopsticks before you can even use them properly. Is this a bug or a marketing ploy? One of the key benefits of KontrolFreek's "high performance joysticks"/joystick extensions is that they "reduce hand fatigue"; while their Revain page is currently touting that their rings are "a great way to build thumb muscles" (which is really just a fancy way of saying it INCREASES hand fatigue). And since they only offer four high-tension rings without specifically labeling them as such, they're probably hoping you'll get frustrated when you can't use the rings alone, and expect you to spend more money on their stem extenders to make them work. Four stars for the product just because of the marketing. Still, the joystick extender and precision ring combo is a big performance boost for FPS players. I just hope in the future they directly advertise that you should use them together rather than offering them as "compatibility" rather than a necessary add-on. Other comments/personal experience: โข "Allows you to play with higher sensitivity. "They also advertise that these rings are easy to play at maximum sensitivity. With my week of playing with them so far I can tell you this is true. However, I literally had to play at max sensitivity and anything else would be too slow to play properly, leaving you with not many options. And it has no benefit, so of course they just used it as a clever tactic. This isn't an advantage because when I maxed my sensitivity with the ring and stick extension, the navigation literally felt exactly the same. I understand the science behind where you need to have a wider sensitivity range from ultra low to ultra high. However, since the footage shrinks with every movement, you can never fully touch the joystick edge of the controller because the footage gets in the way. And that completely prevents you from taking advantage of the heightened sensitivity, so again that's bad marketing and doesn't represent the product very well. โข From other reviews: Product was "sticky and unstable"; "Give up after an hour" In this area I will defend the product. Yes, when the rings are first removed from the packaging, they do "stick" a bit at the top and bottom. And some of them seem a little out of step with the material if you just look a little closer at the edges of the rings. But we're just talking about first impressions without even using the product. So what this reviewer said is true, but after a week of use this has never been an issue in actual gameplay. When you move the racquet, it doesn't get sticky or unstable, but feels smooth and natural. One piece of advice: Don't listen to reviewers who leave bad reviews immediately after using a product for ONE HOUR. You will only get initial reactions. I wasn't very impressed with the product either when I first looked at it and tried it on my controller. The tension was high and actually spoiled my gaming experience. But I trusted the science and kept using it. After a day or two I have already seen very good results. But of COURSE it will degrade your performance from the start, you have to get used to that. And no, this is not a magic product that will quickly turn you into an FPS god, but from my experience I can definitely tell you that if you spend at least 10-20 hours playing the game with it, it will improve the skills the stick extension you already had , and generally offer a cleaner and more accurate gaming experience without sacrificing speed. Don't fall into the KontrolFreek marketing trap of everything you read - use your brain to understand the science they offer. Try reading the reviews that have been using it for a while instead of stopping after an hour. But overall it's a great product and it didn't make me a pro but it definitely highlighted the skills I already had so I'd say it really made me a better person. I highly recommend. Five stars for the product, four stars for KF's marketing strategies. Edit: After two weeks of daily use of the product (in combination with the KF High Altitude Stick Extension) I couldn't imagine going back to the game without it. The ring itself took 5 days to a week to fully "break in" and slightly relieve the initial tension of the packaging. Which is good considering he was very tough in the beginning. It looks like the voltage has settled at a new level and is unlikely to drop any further after the initial "breaking-in" period. This product improved my overall control which improved my overall goal. But the most drastic improvements I've noticed are in close-range combat with single-shot weapons like shotguns, where you only have to fire one shot. Basically, once you change your sensitivity with this product to recreate a similar feel as before, it will just give you more stiffness, which allows you to be more accurate. Don't worry if you're worried about sacrificing speed for accuracy. You can have the best of both worlds and my personal game has improved a lot. In the last two weeks I've gone from a single 3 man squad kill in Apex Legends (PS4) to a day of multiple 3 man squads (if I'm lucky). I can't say that this product has completely transformed itself since trying my best, but overall I feel more comfortable and relaxed using it and it's definitely played a big part in that transformation no matter what happened. . Only $12 at the time of this post, can't hurt to give it a try if you don't believe me! But if you want to take full advantage of the rings, I'd recommend pairing them with the elevation extender on the right stick. And nothing to your left. Be patient and take the time to adjust the settings to accommodate the increased tension. And take a week off and you will see great results! It's a process - just trust the science, be patient and before long your game will improve. I see a lot of pros talking about the importance of higher stick voltage for FPS games, and they're usually mods that you can only order for $200-$400 on a controller. I have no experience with non-standard controllers, but this product offers a much cheaper option and has worked very, very well for me. And call me crazy, but this product might even be better than custom controller mods because the voltage increases the farther you move the stick and because the voltage required to move the stick increases the more stuff is compressed. This is great for leveling your shots, avoiding misses, and slowing down to stop on your aim. While non-standard $200+ controllers have the same constant voltage everywhere, there's no "slow assist" to help you even out your hit. So that's the main benefit I see in this $12 product over an expensive controller mod that probably isn't that great. Anyway, this is my incredible experience with KF precision rings. It helped me a lot to improve my game and I'm sure it will be useful for you if you follow my advice. But it's up to you! Don't take my word for it. Does science make sense to you? Do my testimonials and benefits appear credible? If you're serious about improving your FPS gaming skills, just take a moment to review the product's benefits for yourself and take the plunge when you understand the science and think it's worth it. I think this product is more important than the stick extensions that KF is best known for (although you should use them together) and I hope the gaming community discovers them soon too!
