I bought this cable to play PS4 with voice chat using Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones. The microphone on this cable cannot pick up sound unless it is pointing in exactly the right direction where your voice is coming from. Unless you're speaking or yelling directly into the mic, the mic volume is too low for people to hear you in voice chat (and yes, I turned the mic level all the way up in the PS4 audio settings). So unless you can perfectly position the mic directly under your mouth without holding it (there's no clip on the cable), it's not very useful as a gaming mic or as a mic for anything else if you plan on using your hands for multitasking.
