Terrible support

I was very happy with this product, at least until I had to contact ASUS support. I have a TF101 tablet purchased in July 2011 and a dock/keyboard purchased in October 2011. The tablet was ok, but there were problems with the docking station. The first thing I got was DOA so I returned it to Revane. The second was fine for three months, but then had an issue where some keys would intermittently drop out. Please note nothing was spilled on the keyboard and there was no other physical damage. In addition, the keyboard was used very little. Bottom line, ASUS knows how to make a good tablet, but hasn't figured out how to make a solid keyboard yet. I called ASUS support last night and reported the problem. The support rep insisted that I factory reset the firmware even though it was obvious there was a hardware issue with the keyboard. He assured me that I would not lose a single application. I backed up all documents, pictures, music etc. to an external SD card and then recalled. Reset according to their instructions. Guess what? I lost ALL "free" apps and there is no other way to get them back other than to find and reinstall them. By the way, resetting did absolutely nothing to fix the keyboard issue, so now I have a bad keyboard and am spending countless hours reinstalling apps, tweaking settings, reinstalling data and who knows what else. This factory reset was COMPLETELY UNNEEDED. Also, keyboard repair takes 2-3 weeks. I don't know if Apple support is better, but for now I'd definitely try!
