I was surprised when this output tray arrived. I used to use those cheap plastic outlet holders that use long extension cords to keep the outlets from falling off. They do not withstand the torture they are subjected to in my shop, often breaking at the foot of the nests. This JCK nest shell is a superior solution in many ways. The most useful upgrade over the standard tray is the use of a spring-loaded ball. Castles. Each socket is held in the tray using the same mechanism as a ratchet to prevent sockets from falling out. This is especially important if you are bringing a tray of rosettes to work on your project. So many times I've dropped an entire output tray and all the pieces were scattered. not with this tray. The nest holders are movable. Do you have a spark plug socket that is not between other large sockets? Just slide this single socket holder down a little. The ribbed sliding guide holds your sockets well in any desired position. Each socket can be rotated separately. This comes in handy when you put the socket back in the compartment. Traditionally you have 4 positions where you can install the socket. Repositioning in most trays is done by removing the nest and rotating it 90 degrees. If you have all of your socket labels facing outward, you might be tempted to wait for the cleanup portion of your project to put the socket back in your tray. This is how sockets disappear in the grass. With this tray, you don't have to line up the markings where you want them, you can simply rotate the outlet after inserting it into the tray so that the markings are facing out. It seems like a minor issue, but until socket manufacturers print the dimensions multiple times on each socket, placing your sockets in a row so you can read them makes every job easier. This holder has a very good aluminum channel and mounting frame. Whether you prefer to hang your tray from hooks, screw it to a surface, or just leave it flat, the metal rails and frame will stand the test of time. The rails appear to be anodized and the three rail model I received has a nice multi colored finish. I really wish the rails came in different colors to differentiate SAE from metric other than aesthetics. I don't see much point in color coding 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 socket rails as most people can tell what size a socket is by looking at it while you usually read socket guides need to determine its device standard. Overall a quality tablet with great features. These trays can really help organize your store and look great. In exchange for my honest review, I received my triple tray for free. This is one of those rare occasions when I get a free item and buy a second one.
