Beware of power plugs

I bought this adapter because I thought I could use the power plugs with an external hard drive enclosure. After connecting everything and checking the power connection, I switched on my case. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Dead hard drive. It took two weeks for the exchange at Silverstone, but I didn't try the power connections again for fear. The eSATA port does not work. On the old or on the new. Although the USB port and card reader work fine. Fedora (Linux) users here.
