Review on ๐Ÿ”ฌ EISCO Resolution Quantitative Spectroscope 400 700: Enhancing Spectral Analysis Accuracy by Dave Hammon

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Poor design, poor construction

I wouldn't even use this unit for a classroom demonstration. There are many visible images of the spectrum and it is not immediately clear which one to use. (I suspect the scale is upside down.) I couldn't always find one that lined up with the scale. The slit is too wide to show clear lines. Disappointing and disappointing. I've had better luck with one I made myself by cutting out a grid out of toy rainbow goggles and a slit of cardboard and black tape, all attached to a paper towel tube. Of course there was no scale but I think it could be roughly calibrated using red, green and blue LEDs which would have given center wavelengths. If like me you have to wear reading glasses you might have better vision with them.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic controls
