Review on 💾 Newmodeus HDD / SSD Caddy Compatible with Lenovo Thinkpad T420, T430, T510, T520, T530, W510, W520, W530 by Brian Shakey

First of all I chose the Newmodeus Caddy suitcase from other options, in large part due to cleaning the front panel up shown in the photo. The case I received has a faceplate from a CD drive with an activity light. It also doesn't sit flush with the edge of my Thinkpad T420 (see photo). Functionally it works as advertised. It inserts and extracts with no problems, hot swap works in Xubuntu with some configuration. Tested with Intel SSD and WD HDD. The speeds are good. The mounting solution uses screws and a small, narrow-blade screwdriver that is included in the kit. I would have preferred a tool-free system, but the screws are definitely secure. The activity indicator glows light blue when the drive is idle and red when the drive is active. The blue light is annoying and doesn't match the Thinkpad's aesthetics. I like having an activity indicator, but it should be off when idle and green when active. Overall this is a good product but overpriced compared to other caddies on Revain. And you may not receive the item in the photo!
