I have the ET16 Plus (with parking light and foot pedal) and I am VERY SATISFIED! I could live without the side lights and pedal but it's worth the effort to get them for the added benefit. It has a motion sensor so all you have to do is turn the page and if you stop moving then the next scan is required. , again and again. SO EASY! Autoscan is great from an ergonomic point of view, although I have to say the finger rings can be painful for a hard book. It's a hard plastic that's well constructed, but repeating the action for books 100+ times requires some creativity. I'm learning a few ways and will try to remember to post after I find better solutions. If you've been using Acrobat for years like I have, you'll find that Czur OCR is much better for searchable PDFs. I just turned a 364 page book into a 7.6MB searchable PDF (about 5 minutes to render after scanning). Using the same files in Acrobat, processing takes 10 times longer (50 minutes), OCR accuracy is half as good (SEE SCREENSHOT), and file size is about 8 times larger (56.4 MB)! The coolest thing I hope the company will improve: the box it comes in is all black. It even comes with a small case opener taped to the outside for easy opening. The same box opener can be used to separate the glued portion of the box, which can then be turned into a small black "booth" or "dark room" to block out ambient light. I needed this solution as I live in the Sunshine State and have windows everywhere. Using this small makeshift stand eliminates glare from glossy pages. And all of this fits perfectly in a library cubicle that I plan to use for day trips to the archives where I need to scan lots of old documents and books. What I like is the ability to convert pages to black and white or color - before or after. you scan I had to do it in a book that has a lot of photos. The black and white pages look more like what you see on books.google.com, but the photos in this mode are too cartoony. So I made a mix. Check out my sample photo of a book with a computer screen of the end product, with a black and white page next to a color page. OCR is equally good for each mode. If you look at my photos you will see that I used a bold pencil on the base as I can never remember where the ON is without looking which is hard to do after adjustment. This is ideal for old books and everyday documents.
