This is a racing filter from Wix with no internal bypass. If you have a clogged bypass on your engine and run this filter, all of the oil needs to be filtered constantly. If you go this route you will need to keep an eye on oil pressure during cold starts and consider using a lighter oil. It would also be a good idea to hook up an oil pressure gauge to the oil kitchen after the filter. A small plug on the front of the engine, just above the oil pan rail, is a great spot for a big block Chevy as it is the galley for the main bearing furthest from the oil pump. If your oil level sensor is behind the filter and you notice a drop in oil pressure, that is a good sign that the filter needs to be replaced.
