I am using the Audacity software ported to this OS on Linux on Fedora 14. So far I have recorded about 25 albums with satisfactory results . At first my only problem was that the software freezes after a minute or two. I changed the settings to enable RAM buffering to compensate for slow hard drives to solve this problem. I am using Audacity® 1.3.12-beta (Unicode). I usually record the entire side of the LP, but I can copy and paste a single song into the set of added tracks of a NEW project and save them individually once I've recorded everything. One annoying issue I noticed was that the automatic tonearm return stopped working after about 15 albums, requiring me to manually stop the player at the end of an album. I can add advice on recording vinyl. I use a cheap electrostatic furniture cloth that you roll around in your hands to electrify your records. Sometimes I also clean stubborn stains with a damp cotton swab. This allows you to get rid of a large amount of extraneous noise.
