I must admit we still have a white metal bread bin for our bread. It's MUCH smaller than this. It holds maybe half as it is a sliding lid type. I bought a bread box because we forgot when the bread was in the pantry and it spoiled. Having it on the counter is great for memory but looks messy. The bread maker has solved this problem. Then I noticed the same amount of waste with pastries, uneaten and spoiled. So I bought this bread box for the sweet pastry of our lives, I LOVE it. Let's face it, cupcakes, muffins, and strudel are prettier than bread, so the glass front is pretty. It's a lot stronger than I expected after assembling it. This family makes a conscious effort to reduce waste, and having this bread bin on my desk helps us do it in a different way.
