I bought this humidifier on sale because it was in an open package, most likely it is a return. It arrived with no missing or damaged parts and all papers were present. The area of my house is 2625 square meters. Feet including basement and the next smaller model would be sufficient. However, I have an on-demand electric water heater and the humidifier isn't letting out enough water to turn it on (thanks for that energy saving). Since the only hot water going into the humidifier is what little is in the hot main stem, I bought the next larger model to compensate for the cold water usage. Installation was a fairly easy DIY project for those who have the tools and can read the instructions. . Tin snips, a set of hole saws, wire strippers and a couple of screwdrivers, that's it. It's also helpful to have access to the manuals for your oven and thermostat. I have the hygrostat set to auto humidity control using the outside temp sensor, but no auto fan control as the unit sees mostly cold water. I installed the outside temperature sensor in the air inlet pipe of my stove's fresh air intake just inside the strip beam, following the instructions in the manual for alternative installation locations. % RH to 45% RH in about a day. Just a few days ago here in Michigan the outside air temperature dropped to 18 degrees at night and the humidistat compensated by lowering the relative humidity to 38%. Since then, I've adjusted the dial up and down, set the target relative humidity to "Auto," found the point where my windows were just starting to fog up, and took a step back from that point. After running this unit for over a month, I tested its relative humidity accuracy with another hygrometer in other rooms of the house. Previously, the automatic control of the hygrostat was accurate, maintaining the highest relative humidity in the house and preventing the formation of condensation on the windows. My family has noticed that our dry nose issues have improved and I have noticed that my stove runs less as the humid air is easier to heat.
