Not bad. Rock hard, not pleasant, but that's because it's mechanical and expected. The bark is not too nasty, I would even say tolerant. Nice. Our daughter loves it. She asked for a barking dog for Christmas because ours wasn't enough! Super fun in a house full of real dachshunds, isn't it! :-)
