Maybe I Got a Bad One

The good: It looks as advertised, is sleek, doesn't seem to be made out of cheap material (though I'm no expert on this), the magneticness goes all the way to the ends, and the magneticness seems good enough for average Walmart knives (I don't have any giant or quality knives to test). The bad: It is not 16", it's 15 3/4. There are defects/bumps in the paint/metal that I am afraid may damage my knives. It arrived with a small dent without any obvious damage to the packaging. Lastly, the metal box surrounding the magnets (where you put the knives) was not attached to the magnets. There is glue all along the magnets, so I assume it is supposed to be glued to it, but did not stick. If they can't even glue the box to the magnets Idk how much I trust them with the expensive knives I am buying.I did not actually install it, so can not comment on anything in that regard.I really liked the look and feel of this, so I am hoping I just got a bad one. However, I am not taking my chances and am returning it and buying a different one.

Pros
  • Allows easy access to knives for quick meal prep
Cons
  • The magnetic force may occasionally be uneven, causing some knives to slide down while others stay in place
