nice bottle (22 oz) but the metal part of the cap just fell off after 10 days of use

Hello thirsty online shoppers, I was one of you not too long ago (um, 3 weeks? ) . Life in the north east without air conditioning gets hot and I wanted a bottle of water to make sure I stayed hydrated throughout the day. I saw a Cutter recommendation on this bottle and my wife and I ordered 3 of them. I gave her one and she drew a star on the top of the bottle to distinguish hers from mine. (You can't buy 3 different colors, hmm.) I took one for myself, and the third one was to become the family's common property. For a while it seemed like I had found the perfect vial. I was so happy because a) it was a glass I enjoyed drinking from (the best taste) and b) it didn't have those straws that some other bottles have which I don't like. I was even able to make herbal tea and drink it (well, after it cools down) My wife and I were so happy that we started thinking about having a baby. Little did I know that without the bottle, our dreams would soon crumble. One morning I filled my bottle with water and was about to take a sip when I saw a metal object at the bottom of the bottle that had been left in my water. I thought it was a piece of metal that is usually attached to the inside of a water bottle cap. I was sad and disappointed. I quickly drank all the water, careful not to accidentally put a small piece of metal in my mouth and choke on it. Once the bottle ran out of water, I removed the piece of metal from the bottom and reattached it to the cap. I'm attaching a photo showing the metal part after I put it back on. (Photo of the piece of metal that was lying on the bottom of the bottle before I attached it, it's just too sad to look at, I'll save you guys the trouble of seeing) But even after it was attached, the spirit piece didn't Come back. fully. Once this piece of metal comes loose, it can come loose again. Should I always look at the bottom of my water bottle before I take a sip to make sure there's nothing in it? What if one day I puffed water and didn't notice a metal object there? Should I risk choking? It was a sad and dangerous future to look at. Luckily my wife and I haven't stopped using birth control just yet as it wouldn't be a good idea to breathe life into this unreliable world of bottles that can fail and sometimes try to kill you. However, we are trying to figure out what to do with this situation. Do we ask the manufacturer for a different bottle? No solution as can happen with other bottles. Should we go back to using steel water bottles like Hydroflasks? I don't like drinking out of steel and they aren't even made for drinking out of something hot. (Either feels too hot or if insulated you have to wait 3 hours before you can enjoy your tea.) People have been using glass for centuries. But it looks like 2019 is too early to have a water bottle you can rely on for all your on-the-go hydration needs. Give our breed a few more years and we'll make it. Meanwhile, our biological clock is ticking. Sigh. UPDATE: I dropped my water bottle on the cement floor the same day I wrote this review so now the whole bottle is broken not just the lid and I had to throw it out. I think I'm too clumsy for glass bottles. I might end up using a steel bottle. The manufacturer replied to my email about the broken cap and was interested in sending me a new cap free of charge, but now I don't even have the bottle itself.
