Review on ezOutlet3 - Internet-Enabled IP Remote Power Switch with Reboot (AC Power/Single Outlet/iOS/Android/Cloud/Web Control) - Latest Model by James Jenkins

We have ATT u-verse internet over copper at my second home. From time to time the modem freezes or loses connection due to ATT firmware update. This device is ideal for restarting a modem. It will require some tweaking to tell it to wait "15 minutes" or "900 seconds" before turning off [this gives the modem enough time to 1) reconnect due to a firmware update boot 2) give it time to install the firmware and try a reboot ]. Once you set it up, it just works by checking every few minutes to see if you've lost internet access. It does this by pinging [sends a greeting, waits for a reply] from a source you select [example: Google at IP address 8.8.8.8]. I'm not a fan of using the mobile app so I downloaded it, set it up and then went to the website. After the website was set up, I uninstalled the app on my phone [sorry China, you no longer need access to my phone]. Because this device is in front of my firewall and has direct access to the ATT modem, the device cannot eavesdrop on any of my packets [everything else goes through the VPN through the firewall]. If this device was NOT a Chinese product I would give it 5 stars but this BS mobile app is the reason why it gets lower ratings.
