Well to be honest the dog I bought this for is an escape artist. Still, I'm a bit disappointed with this product. I've had it for a little less than two months and he's already broken it. He is a blue healer, black lab mix, weighs 50-60 pounds. I can't imagine it will last long against a larger breed. He managed to chew through the vinyl sleeve enough to expose the inner metal wire, and with a little help from rain/rust, broke it in half. a complete metal chain appears to break (as in dungeons or chain gangs). I also can't find a collar or harness on the market that he can't snap into or slip out of somehow. And just for a little extra insight, he figured out how to twist, turn and roll the clasps/clips on many of the lines we tried (without breaking) on the ground, even to the point of unscrewing the quick connect. Well, to be honest again, he's just an annoyingly smart dog overall. However, the leash was fairly durable as long as it didn't wear off the coating and would probably last longer without being exposed to the elements like I did. said. This will likely be more than enough for smaller breeds or dogs with less escapism/wit. Overall this is a decent leash, just not strong enough for my smart mongrel.
