So I ordered a 150w 60mm version of this model from another seller and expected it to peak at maybe 75w , as reports have come in that this version peaks at 50 watts. It ended up using 194 watts before I turned it off - about 10 seconds of work. Nothing good. This arrived later that day (today) and I ran the same test. Left it running for 20 minutes and never saw power draw over 68W including loss when going from 120VAC to 12VDC through the power supply. Sufficient for me, even if not 100 watts. I installed in my project and let the thermostat do its thing. The fan on this device is acceptable if you keep your hand an inch away from the outlet. If run at half speed it would move less air through the aluminum fins and be warmer. So it's ok and I was happy to try it. I have found that it heats my project (ammo) up +4 degrees in about 5 minutes. Absolutely perfect. I then checked how much power it draws (this time through a calibrated shunt, no AC->DC losses) and it came out at 94W. It must be stress related. The PSU has a constant output voltage of 12.22V and the battery in my ammo can is 13.6V, so maybe expect less heat/power consumption at lower voltages - and a 13.6+ rating. Before the project can be implemented, further tests must be carried out.
