I decided to purchase this can opener despite reading mixed reviews but my experience has not been the best. The first jar I opened was successful despite being large (the button had to be pressed a second time to finish). The second time I had to open 5 jars of a recipe I was making. He chose the latter during the trial. With my husband's help, we followed the instructions to remove it, but it wasn't easy. The can initially showed no signs of denting or other damage, but when we removed the can opener from the can, it was damaged and almost impossible to open by hand. We checked the batteries and they were fine, so we have no idea why it stopped. I don't trust that and will go back to the manual opener. Don't know if it's worth messing around with returning it, so it might end up in the trash.
