I use it to bleach and tone the roots to prevent deposits and breakage. I get really white/silver so they prevent the bleached areas of my hair from catching on the already heavily lifted hair. It does an excellent job of separating things and helps a little to keep the bleach from drying out. It's also good for protecting the hairline - I apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or Aquaphor to skin or baby's superfine hair and place a strip of cotton over it to keep skin from discoloring and small hairs from coming loose when it's time Rinse out the bleach. They fray a bit easily so they can wreak a bit of havoc if they get caught on something, but overall it's a bit grippy compared to how much easier they are to use than something like release liner.
