Have been a satisfied ZVOX customer with a Soundbase 555 purchased a few years ago for the TV in our living room. Since then, we have wall-mounted a newer smart TV, and my hearing has diminished a bit more. I was looking for a more compact alternative that also could increase the sound clarity. Enter the ZVOX AV203, which looked to be the perfect solution and update.The speaker is quite attractive (we selected black) and its footprint is very small (esp. compared to our older Soundbase unit). But do not let the smaller size fool you. This speaker fills our entire living room with sound; and, its myriad of settings offer many options to help improve/increase the clarity of dialogue. Yes, at its highest settings, the sound does become quite "tinny"/shrill, but most people should not need to push things to those extremes. For now, I have found a sweet spot with the "AC" set at 1 or 2 and the "Sd" also set at 1 or 2. You can fine tune even further by slightly adjusting the bass, treble, and overall volume.The improvement over our older Soundbase was almost instantaneous and quite surprising. To try and maintain a full range of sound, I connected the AV203 to my existing small, powered sub-woofer. The simple set-up and instructions had me trying different settings in just a minute or two; and, the new and simpler remote worked flawlessly. I did continue to find that some minor adjustments still may be needed depending on the source, vintage, and foreign accents of various programming, but there is no need to "crank" the volume.Right out of the box, this AV203 looks to be another winner for ZVOX and for those who need some help in raising the level of clarity of dialogue. The sale price for this unit ($199) may seem a bit high, but I found that ZVOX puts out a very high quality product that does exactly what it says it will do. With that, and their responsive and helpful customer service, it made for an easy choice.
