This is tall enough to hold a large size hand towel.
I love this towel bar! We moved to an apartment that has a sink in the middle of the island. I didn’t want to damage the cabinets with a towel bar hanging from a drawer. This towel bar works well for us, and so far (2 months), has not had any rust on the bottom. I like that it is heavy enough and does not tip over easily.
