30 degree error in candy

Received this on Thursday and used that same day to brittle peanuts. An accurate temperature measurement of 300 degrees is required to ensure that the brittle does not burn. I used a thermometer and when it reached 300 degrees I removed the brittleness from the heat and poured it into the pan to cool. The color seemed lighter than usual. I tried making another batch and the same thing happened. Today I compared the Escali thermometer I just bought to my old polder thermometer and found that the Escali reading was 30 degrees higher, resulting in my brittle peanuts not gardening as long as they should. I am very disappointed and wasted my money AND the cost of the ingredients I used to make the candies. I do not recommend this product.
