What did I pay for? This product is a failure.

The process of choosing a printer this time was not entirely simple. Chose between Epson or HP. Previously, I had printers of both these brands, in principle I knew what to expect from both manufacturers. Therefore, I chose between and therefore did not consider other manufacturers. Initially, I had my eye on the Epson L4160 . And I even almost bought it. But. After reading the specifications and reviews on the HP Smart Tank 615, I decided to opt for it. First and foremost is the interchangeable printheads. A home printer is not a permanent printer. If the head dries up, then in EPSON this is one of the most expensive components and its replacement is a trip to the service and a considerable amount of money. In the HP Smart Tank 615, the print head is a consumable. Something broke — bought and changed himself. In theory, I don’t know yet how many heads are available . The second is the interface. Say what you like, but the touch screen is much more convenient and concise than a scattering of buttons on EPSON. Even on previous models I understood this. Third. Automatic paper feeder for scanner. Let it be simple, but in this price category, it seems to me, no one else has it. About the quality and speed of printing. Prints clearly. There are no questions about the text. Photo. Well, this is not a five-color printer, and it shows. But. In an era when all albums are digital, it's somehow not reasonable to buy a printer at home to print photos. And a couple of photos on the wall or photos in a wedding album can be printed on this four-color one. The model is very satisfied. So, after 8 months I can say the following. The printer is extremely unreliable. I ended up taking it to the store under warranty. I can’t be sure that the next time I print some important document, it won’t stop and write that “That’s it, comrade, I have a mistake, I don’t print anymore”! And pipets. You urgently need to bring a document, but there is no printer. And this happened twice in 8 months. SAME. And the second time was a new printer, replaced under warranty after the first case .

Pros
  • Possibility of independent replacement of the print head in case of its breakage; Laconic design; Automatic paper feeder. A very convenient thing, albeit greatly simplified compared to office options; The price for such a set of functions in comparison with competitors.
Cons
  • Vertical paper feed, now you can’t put the printer in a niche, there should be space on top The automatic paper feeder in the output tray does not have a notch to pry off the scanned stack of paper. The output tray for paper after printing does not catch sheets very confidently. If you print a large stack, you need to make sure that some of the sheets do not fall on the floor. : It turns out that you just had to pull the tray out to the end! ))) The tray is excellent, it will catch the entire pack that you load for printing. I will not say that all of the above is critical, but rather a feature that must be reckoned with. after 8 months: EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE DEVICE. For 8 months it broke down 2 times with the same problem. Carriage error. See comments for details
