Surprised by the negative reviews here. This book is for those who want to design their own sweaters. And I don't know of any other book that shows in such detail how to combine yarn. Brilliant. I have been knitting for many years and always use the same yarn. Thanks Kitty for opening my eyes to all the other incredible yarn combination possibilities. WOW. That is the premise of this book. You decide. you design. Some reviewers complain that the book lacks information on yarn requirements. If you think about it, you will realize that it is impossible to express the number of meters in yards. It depends on the type of yarn, the knitting density and the final size of the jumper. This book is about design, not copying. So choose your yarn, buy a skein or skein of each, knit a sample and find out. Not difficult to do. Once you've found a yarn combination that you like, there are many websites on the internet that will give you an estimate of the length of yarn needed to make standard garments of different weights. Buy extra, return what you don't need. You'll learn a lot about designing your own sweaters if you go through this a few times. I made the first sweater in the book, a simple mohair sweater. I used the first size in brackets. The sweater required 600 yards of worsted yarn and fine mohair. I have bought more which I will be returning. I now have a pretty good idea of what to buy for my next project.
