Practically non-functional, potentially dangerous

I would return this "extension" if I could, but it's my own fault I waited too long to try it and now it doesn't fit anymore. I was trying to replace an old surge protector that was starting to make an annoying electrical squeak with this power strip. I plugged it in, flipped the switch, plugged the USB charger into the top and nothing. No light, nothing. Thinking I couldn't turn the strip on, I turned on a small table fan. There was definitely power, but the USB RGB lights wouldn't turn on and it didn't seem to be drawing any power. So I plugged the USB charger into another outlet that I knew had power. No problem. So the problem was clearly in the power supply. I plugged the USB module into a different port on the strip (not the middle one shown in the product images). At first I thought it was nothing. Then the red LEDs came on. Just red, but not discolored like a good socket. And that only if it were juuuuust properly connected. Well, maybe it's just a USB device. Okay, that's uncomfortable, but yes. no This is a strip. Then I noticed that when I plugged in the camera charger along with the fan (note it's still not a big load, a desktop fan and charger!) the old strip was replaced. Unplug the charging cable and it's gone. I still doubted it. Maybe the charger is noisy anyway. Maybe just a spirited USB brick. And then I noticed. Tapping the fan wire next to the connector even lightly will de-energize it. No, this thing is officially an electrical hazard! Forget it! Came back here to order the best strips right away and picked them up today. This thing doesn't belong in your home and definitely shouldn't be plugged into an outlet anywhere. You could argue that this is just a defective extension, but if so, this is the first extension I have ever purchased that was defective straight away and that still speaks very badly of the quality control of the item NOT designed that way should be that it causes electrical problems as that is pretty much the most important design feature. Don't believe it. Go and buy something more expensive (or cheaper! I've had cheaper ones that worked!) and much safer. I'm not an electrician, but that can't be good.

Pros
  • Power for all: power adapter with 9 AC outlets, 3 USB-A ports. Possibility to charge 9 devices at the same time. Compatible with most electronic devices at home, office and workshop. Compact and lightweight, convenient for travel.
Cons
  • Minor issues
