Review on Jean Denim Machine Needles Size Pack by Morgan Gilmore

A popular choice for HD fabrics.

As I mentioned in another review I was looking for a machine needle for a difficult task. I had to sew some double stitching in ballistic nylon. It's a durable fabric, similar to a tarpaulin, only less "yielding" or stretchy. I bought two different HD needles for a project. This is one of them. This needle is intended for jeans and denim. Not exactly what I sewed, but the canvas style material isn't too different. I thought ballistic nylon would survive this process if the needle held out. It turns out I was right. The needle handled the material without much difficulty as long as I didn't push it too hard. Needle marks were minimal and the stitching actually went pretty smoothly. After about 15 minutes I decided to try another needle which I bought instead of this one. Why? Well, I'll just tell you! Since I'm a person who handles all my own projects, and since there's no one around to criticize my decisions too much, I thought I'd try to speed up the operation a bit. The other needle was 120/20 and big enough to make me think I could get the job done a little faster without breaking the needles - which I did. In any case, THIS needle has never let me down. It stayed sharp even through the tough ballistic nylon and never gave me any trouble. I've never broken a needle and as long as you keep the speed under control I don't think that needle will ever fail. Very satisfied.! I can't help but think I now have one less excuse not to back up my sewing! I love this needle.
