Shows the temperature, but don't trust the Rare, Med Rare, Med and Well Done settings. In my experience, the temperature used to tell you when the meat or chicken is done is at least 15 degrees Fahrenheit too hot. If you follow the instrument's instructions, the food will be overcooked and strong. I usually just subtract 15 or 20 degrees from what the instructions say to figure out when to remove the grill.
