Review on Epson Workforce ES 500W II Smartphone by Hassan Tomlinson

I don't usually write reviews unless it's something really bad and something really good. This scanner is one of the really good ones. The software takes a little time to install, but the process is straightforward. The scanner scans at 35 pages per minute as advertised and it doesn't seem to make any difference whether you're scanning single-sided or double-sided, at least I haven't noticed it. I scanned at 600 dpi, so I don't know if that slows down at higher settings. The documentation and advertising says it has a 50-page document feeder, but you can easily get 60 or more 20-pound pages in the feeder. One of my concerns was that almost all of my files were over 50 pages long and I was afraid that I would end up with volume one, volume two etc. and that concern was quickly dispelled. You can load and scan your first 50 or 60 pages in the document feeder. Take them out of the tray and put in another 50 or 60 pages, press the scan button again and they will be added to your PDF file. You can just keep going and end up with a PDF of 150 or 200 pages or more if you want or need it. I tried to scan my files with the Brother All-in-One and although it was scanning at about the same speed when it recognized the paper clip I missed causing it to try to get the page, without tearing them apart got stuck. (I have a new rule - absolutely no staples in my files as removal takes a long time and I always miss one or two) On this scanner, if I skip a staple it usually gets stuck, but clearing the jam is quick and easy . Simply remove any unjammed documents, open the cover and remove the jammed page. Remove the staple or note you placed on this page, as the page with the note attached will also not be scanned. Put your pages back in the document feeder and hit enter on your keyboard and it will work again. The jammed page does not tear, as I have sometimes experienced with the Brother All in One, and clearing the jam is not difficult at all. One of the features I like is that the program automatically rotates the scanned page 180 degrees. I prefer to feed documents from the bottom of the page as it's usually not as rusty as the top of the pages where the staples were tacked or the corners crumpled, so I put documents in the document feeder from the top first rather than them first from the bottom and when it's scanned it will automatically rotate the image face up, which I couldn't get with the software I used with my Brother All-in-One. The software allows you to name the file and direct it to where you want the PDF file sent (I send mine to my hard drive for storage). Once you specify a destination for the file, the program remembers where you sent it and sends the next document to the same directory by default, or you can send it to a different directory. I saw several complaints about software reviews and it bothered me when deciding to buy a scanner, but I found the software easy to use and intuitive. I've scanned about 15,000 pages so far and the scanner works almost perfectly. (didn't see a single double serve). The only problem I've ever had (apart from the silly paperclips I'm missing) is that on a few occasions the scanner has lost contact with my wireless router and sometimes it takes a few minutes to recover. All in all, this is a great scanner. and highly recommended.
