I had previously bought another type of machine that didn't have the ability to do temperature adjustments and would make the wax scalding hot and unable to use so purchased this one later as a replacement. It's easy enough for my 81yr old father to use for his arthritis and he has no problem adjusting the temp on it to suit him. All of the extra items that come with it as a "kit" are great as well and a major value
