Around April 2017, two Plextor M8Pe 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe drives were purchased and installed one each on two HP ProDesk 600 G2 Mini PCs. At the same time, I installed 4x Samsung 970 evo nvme each on 4 other HP ProDesk 600 G2 Mini-PCs. All of these systems are used in a general office environment with adequate ventilation and a light read/write load. A month apart, both Plextor drives failed with the same failure mode. The system freezes at the initial HP Bios logo and does not work. After ejecting the floppy disk, the system boots normally. I installed the drives on another computer and the same problem occurs. Installing a failed hard drive on a different make/model computer will also result in errors. Thank goodness there is a 5 year guarantee. I need to speak to Plextor about a replacement but not sure I will trust them in the future.
