Didn't want to spend a few hundred dollars to replace my wife's makeup mirror

I didn't want to throw out my 20 year old wife's makeup mirror when I thought it might be possible to take it apart and find a replacement lamp. Don't get me wrong, she has done such a good job with her makeup over the years that I would buy her a new one if I had to. But now I'm at the age where I enjoy looking at things that don't work and trying to figure out how to take them apart and fix them. Built like a bank vault, this vanity mirror appeared impenetrable but understated. The (and quiet) exploration, along with a few bottles of beer, gave me the clue I needed. The manufacturer was pretty smart and obviously never meant for anyone to take this thing apart, but in the end it wasn't much of a problem for someone who drank beers all night while studying for a college exam. It only took me six (or was seven) years to graduate from college. In any case, once I had access to the bulb, it was easy for me to match it to those offered on Revain. It was delivered to my door for a whopping $4.19. After about two minutes the lightbulb was changed and the make-up mirror installed. And the best thing is, it worked! I was never sure of the outcome when I was installing a new garbage chute and the doorbell rang. I think practice makes perfect.
