Review on 🔌 J-Tech Digital JTD-0801 8-Input HDMI Converter Switch with 1 HDMI Output - Multi-Functional Solution for Enhanced Connectivity by David Ocampo

UPDATED: After using this product for 4 months with different input devices I am reducing my rating to one star. My initial assessment was based on the mistaken observation that 4/8 input and conversion worked well; Now I understand that's not the case. Remember that the product has not changed in any way, deteriorated or damaged in any way since I first used it, but now I understand its shortcomings better. The two new findings I've come to are that this device distorts heavily on analogue inputs and there is no way to tell the device to keep the input in the 4:3 aspect ratio. Audio wise it looks like the digital inputs are scaling too bright at the output, it seems the same is happening with the audio; Namely, the analog-to-digital audio converter seems to be scaling the volume too loud, resulting in a lot of distortion in the mids and highs that simply turning down the volume on my receiver or TV can't fix (and remember, you have to turn the volume down because it's LOUD). Second, because this device outputs a 1080p signal to the TV, my TV or computer screen will not allow changing the aspect ratio to 4:3; However, this device scales the video input to fill the screen, meaning any video source intended to be viewed in a 4:3 aspect ratio will be stretched to widescreen without resizing either on your display or through this device can be changed. .I really like this product. On paper, that's exactly what I need. However, everything I originally wrote below still applies and due to all the shortcomings of this device, I cannot recommend it. However, VGA and HDMI-to-HDMI conversions do not. When the input is one of the VGA or HDMI inputs, the output video is way too bright and washed out, as if the signal is causing the lights on my display to go full out. No amount of optimization of my display could fix the problem. I contacted the manufacturer and they said it was a model issue and not just a defective unit. I've seriously thought about bringing it back, but my AV receiver isn't that good at converting from component to HDMI, so I decided to keep it and only use it for component and composite conversions. Give this product 2.5/5 stars because only 4/8 inputs work properly, but I don't mind giving 0.5 stars for pretty good customer service.
