If your PS4 controller isn't charging, try this first before buying another controller! Overall, the repair took about 1 hour. The biggest hurdle I encountered is that the new cable doesn't have kinks like the original cable, so when I reassemble the controller the new cable will come loose. To fix this I carefully bent the new cable to match the old cable and it worked.
