When we first opened the bag, there was a slight chemical smell, but after a few washes it went away. Also, I LOVE these pants! I always dress my kids in comfortable clothes and usually have to resort to fleece pants for my son, but so far they've been fantastic. They have a bit of stretch so are more comfortable than regular jeans, the crotch/seat area is a little roomy so my child can still be active in them and not be restricted, but the feet are not rough so they still look sharp . The elastic waistband is also a godsend as my son isn't quite getting the button and zip to work just yet. Count me in, to buy two more pairs in different washes and hope they are as great as this first pair. **EDIT: The other two pant styles are not as good as this one. Pay special attention to which style you choose - they are all different! Some styles are thinner, wrinkle easier, and have different sizes for each style, so one style of pant was almost an inch shorter than the other.
