We got them because it saves money compared to recycling the blue bottles and with the little coupon they give you for a discount of about three bucks . new filled bottle. That's about $13. I still don't understand what the pink pin that comes with the lids is for? Doesn't seem to serve the purpose of removing caps. My husband can't take the lids off, so that's my job. The first time we had to remove them I figured it would hurt every time we had to put them back in. I ended up using a butter knife and slipping under the sides and wiggling it. I noticed that it stretched the sides of the lid a bit. Still no leakage problems. Next time I also used a butter knife but I went through the small top hole. I ripped them off like this. No stretch but takes a minute. Then next time I just started to grab tight at the very top around the perimeter and pull them a little and twist them a little. they moved away I'll try again just by pulling the blue tab but to be honest I think it will break the lid. They have never leaked and we use them on a popular bottle brand and a generic brand. Also, you get so many that it doesn't really matter if one of them wears out, I guess.
