Comes nicely packaged in an outer box. The fingers and the base are made of plastic. Fingers move easily in curves, but not so easily that they constantly bend during use. You can't put much pressure on your finger or it will bend when nailing, but normal pressure when driving a nail will do. I've never used a practice finger or hand so I wasn't quite sure how to use them. I wasn't sure if you should paint the practice nail. I found this to be a misnomer as practice nails are brown so depending on your base color you may need to apply multiple coats. So I put a false nail on it first. You can't stick the false nail directly on the practice nail because the practice nail is too shiny/slippery. First you need to file/grind the nail to make the surface rough, then apply glue on it and attach the false nail on it. It holds up great when you do it. Then when you're done, it will rip off the practice nail quite easily. After doing a few nail designs this way, I wondered if there was a way to take a practice nail out of the equation. You could probably glue a fake nail directly onto the practice finger, but I wasn't sure if that would work or I damaged my finger. So I decided to try something different... I took one of the practice nails. I put it on my finger. Then I took a pair of false nail clippers and cut as close as I could on each side of the little protrusion that goes into the practice finger. I then used an electric drill to file the top of the bar. I then used this little lip to glue on the practice nails so I could still put the lip in my finger and didn't have to glue anything to my real finger. It worked very well. I haven't had to switch to another training nail yet. The only complaint I have about it is that the toe doesn't hold up very well at the base. It doesn't really seem to click or lock. He just sits there. It doesn't even take power to get there. You know, as usual, when something snaps into something so it fits snugly against it, it usually takes a little bit of force to push it in there. This is not the case at all, and you can see it because the toe comes right out of the base slightly. You barely touch it and it comes out. It's really annoying. So I usually just hold my practice finger and don't even use the base. But it would be nice if you could use the base so that your finger doesn't fall out so easily. I deducted a star for that. Overall I think this is a great set. You get 3 practice fingers and a lot of practice nails. You benefit from every practice nail. The fingers appear to be of good quality and durable. They bend easily enough, but not too easily. The only complaint I have is that the finger doesn't stay well in the base. As long as you can get over it, I think you would be very happy with it!
