This is a really great starter cross stitch kit. It really does come with everything you need and then some. Like the piercing blades. I'm not sure what those are used for. One thing that it didn't come with is enough of the bobbin cards to store the thread. It would have been nice to have enough cards so that I could organize the floss into a box.This has a ton of colors which is great so that you can pretty much work on most free patterns I have found online. Since I got this kit to teach my 7 year old how to start, I didn't mind that the floss in this kit wasn't named brand floss. For myself when actually following a pattern from a book I would go with DMC floss or whatever the book is using to make sure I get the shades just right but since I'm using this just to teach my daughter the mechanics, going with this floss is the more economical option. I haven't actually tried to match the floss in the kit to my floss to see if they match as it didn't really matter with this floss.We found a bunch of really small cute 1"x1" pattern's online that my daughter could probably finish in a 30minute-1hour session. She started them and has almost finished her first pattern.
