I received the reader 11 days after ordering and it worked right out of the box. There are no problems with that yet. I have this because connecting my camera to my computer to transfer photos seems to drain the camera's battery badly. As you can see from the picture, the device is wider than a regular USB port, so parallel USB ports are blocked. However, a short USB extension cable should fix this if that's the problem. I noticed that several people said their readers failed after a short time. I haven't had it long enough to know if I'll meet a similar fate, but perhaps this procedure will help avoid early failures: (1) Insert a PRO Duo memory card into the reader before inserting the reader into inserting and inserting the USB connector on a clear MicroMate plastic cover on the memory card to prevent accidental movement, (2) plugging the reader into a USB port, (3) transferring photos to a computer, (4) using the Right-click the drive icon in Windows Explorer ( Explorer in newer versions of Windows ) and select "Extract" from the pop-up menu. (5) After the operating system issues a warning that the device is safe to remove, unplug the reader from the USB port with the memory card still in it. , (6) Remove the memory card from the reader. I know it sounds like a lot when you describe all the steps, but it really isn't that hard, and ejecting the device is a safer way to ensure all files are properly closed before disconnecting.
